A 7 hour shift at Wegmans. Wegmans is probably busier than most churches on Sunday. It was incredibly crowded. Today was my first day going live, which means it was my first day cashiering/bagging by myself. Not too bad, I was pretty out of it by the end of the day but then I saw an absolutely MINT E30 M3 in the parking lot and I'm reminded why I got a job in the first place.
Seems like I still can't upload images, just keeps failing everytime.

That's why I originally even got a job there, I love going to wegmans. I usually pack my own lunch (more monies for a car) but I like to buy myself something nice before I leave. I've befriended the people in the bakery so I always have something nice and hot wating for me.

If Jesus ran a supermarket, it would be Wegman's.

As someone who works there, I completely agree. Such a kickass company. I work at the busiest store in the country and they still always make sure I'm getting my breaks on time and frequently.

Wegmans is awesome, it was one of the reasons I was kind of excited about moving to upstate New York - I figured they're from New York, so of course, they must be everywhere, but nope, imagine my disappointment that there isn't a single one in the entire eastern part of the state, just a bunch of Price Choppers and Hannafords. There were two Wegmans near my old house in Pennsylvania, what a rip off.

Really? I know they're literally all over the place in Rochester/Syracuse. They expanded to the DC area like 10 years ago and there's now 3 of them (and another being built) within an hour of me, with the closest being 10 minutes away.

Went to Wegmans after autocross to pick up dinner and ended up parked next to a brand new 911 Turbo. There's always good car spotting, whenever you go.

They're headquartered in Rochester, but there's none to the east (Albany area). There's an urban legend that the Wegman family has a gentleman's agreement with the Golub family (the owners of Price Chopper, based in Schenectady) to stay out of each other's ends of the state. Don't know if its true or not, but the geographic footprint of the chains matches the story. Price Chopper, by the way, is a pretty standard discount t0 mid price grocery store and is in no way a real Wegmans competitor, more like a ShopRite equivalent.

YES! You'd think you were at a Porsche meet sometimes, I didn't even know that many people drove modded 911's in Northern VA.
Some serious money rolls through, this lady today bough $1800 worth of wine. It was pretty intense when I bagged it!

Yeah Wegmans only real competition is whole foods, and they're two very different companies.
That agreement wouldn't surpsie me, the Wegman's family STILL run the company now. I imagine that they'll eventually expand to your area though, Wegmans has continuously been growing and I doubt they'll just leave such a large area untapped.

It is kind of crazy, one would clean up out here. A Whole Foods just opened in town recently, and it's been mobbed constantly, just like the Trader Joe's up the street (which I don't usually go to anymore, since parking is such a pain). But, those are the only two more "upscale" supermarkets in the entire capital region.

Yeah, I'd imagine so! $1800 in wine sounds heavy.

It wasn't too bad, most of them were just really expensive. It was only around a dozen or so bottles, and we have special bags that fit 4 bottles.

Yeah on weekends it gets so busy that they don't even let employees park on site, they park in a lot by the county government center and a shuttle runs back and forth every 5 minutes. People will circle the parking lot for half an hour just to shop!
